Fink: Grants Support York County Historical Preservation

(HARRISBURG) – Rep. Wendy Fink (R-Red Lion) announced several organizations in York County have been awarded grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) to support the preservation and promotion of local history.

“These grants are a testament to the vibrant history of District 94 and York County. I appreciate the efforts of local organizations, which are working to preserve that history for future generations,” said Fink. “The grants awarded by PHMC will help keep our community’s stories alive and accessible.”

The following grants were awarded.

Historical and Archival Records Care Grants

• York County Commissioners Archives, $4,995 to digitize 70 prothonotary appearance and Court of Common Pleas dockets.
• York County History Center, $5,000 for a digital preservation assessment by the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts.

Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program
• York County History Center, $40,000 for salary support for the manager of school programs at York County History Center.
• Susquehanna Heritage Corp., $6,200 for staff wages as they pursue American Alliance of Museums (AAM) accreditation.

The PHMC’s grant programs are designed to strengthen Pennsylvania’s historical and cultural organizations and ensure the long-term care of archival materials and historic resources.
